Apostasy and Freedom of Religion in Islam by Quran

What does Quran says about Apostasy? What is the punishment for Apostasy in Islam? Does Islam allow the freedom of religion? Is there any punishment for the person who changed his/her religion? This post is going to cover all of you questions regarding to Freedom of Religion and Apostasy in Islam by Quran.

It is fact that Islam is most misunderstood religion of the world. One of the reason behind the fact is "anti Islamic websites" who are more in numbers than Islamic website. Those anti websites provide fake information, half verses of Quran and share the information without any base. The purpose of such websites are to make people hate Islam and its teaching.

Without any commentary and putting my addition words to explain the verse of Quran. I am going to share some verse from Quran which are going to prove that there is no punishment of apostasy in Islam because religion is a person's own concern which belong to only Allah and only Allah can punishment or reward for the acts which are wholly done for Him.

There is no Compulsion in Religion:

There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. - Quran 2:256
And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed - all of them entirely. Then, [O Muhammad], would you compel the people in order that they become believers? - Quran 10:99

Religion is a Person’s own Concern:

The list of following verse from Holy Quran going to prove that its person's own choice to follow or not to follow a religion or the message of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Quran.
And say, "The truth is from your Lord, so whoever wills - let him believe; and whoever wills - let him disbelieve." - Quran 18:29
If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves. - Quran 17:7
There has come to you enlightenment from your Lord. So whoever will see does so for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever is blind [does harm] against it. And [say], "I am not a guardian over you." - Quran 6:104
"Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful." - Quran 76:3

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were not allowed to force people to accept Islam:

Allah has sent messenger time to time to deliver His message. Not a single messenger of Allah forced people to believe in their message. Same like that, the last Messenger of Allah came with the message of Allah to preach with peace and love. His duty was only to delivered the message of God to people and as Muslims its now our duty to deliver the message of truth in same way like he did with peace and love.

Quran has strongly mentioned several time that the duty of Prophet was only to deliver the message of God. Beliving is the personal choice of person.
Say, "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification." - Quran 24:54
And obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon Our Messenger is only [the duty of] clear notification. - Quran 64:12
And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware. And if you turn away - then know that upon Our Messenger is only [the responsibility for] clear notification. - Quran 5:92
So if they argue with you, say, "I have submitted myself to Allah [in Islam], and [so have] those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture and [to] the unlearned, "Have you submitted yourselves?" And if they submit [in Islam], they are rightly guided; but if they turn away - then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants. - Quran 3:20

Say, "O mankind, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever goes astray only goes astray [in violation] against it. And I am not over you a manager." - Quran 10:108
Indeed, We sent down to you the Book for the people in truth. So whoever is guided - it is for [the benefit of] his soul; and whoever goes astray only goes astray to its detriment. And you are not a manager over them. - Quran 39:41
But if Allah had willed, they would not have associated. And We have not appointed you over them as a guardian, nor are you a manager over them. - Quran 6:107

Allah can Punish to Apostle not human:

So, who can punish to the apostle? Allah said to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in following verses that its His account to punish or not.
And whether We show you part of what We promise them or take you in death, upon you is only the [duty of] notification, and upon Us is the account. - Quran 13:40
Then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants. - Quran 3:20

Punishment for Apostasy in Islam by Allah not Humanbeing:

Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief - never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way. - Quran 4:137
Indeed, those who reject the message after their belief and then increase in disbelief - never will their [claimed] repentance be accepted, and they are the ones astray. - Quran 3:90
As the above verse clearly states that its Allah to punish the one who change his religion from Islam. Meanwhile why do a person would be worried about punishment by Allah if he reject Allah, Islam, Quran, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) etc?

Conclusion:

So What does we learn today from Quran? "Apostasy is a Sin not a Crime" for sins there is punishment set by Allah for the life after death.

Anyways, this is my personal thought which I learn and conclude from Quran. What does yours? why not you tell write down in comment section below?

What is your duty now?

As i have stated in the start of this post that there are more anti Islamic websites spreading lies about this topic. So, it is your duty to share this post with your friends and family and social websites like Facebook and Twitter to spread the true face of Islam and its teaching.
